A smart world is a connected world

For something to be smart it has to be connected wirelessly to something else and create an intelligent exchange of information. And as the world gets more and more connected, homes get smarter and smarter. In smart homes, modern families can easily control their house’s energy and heating from far away. In smart homes, lights are turned on with just one click, the vacuum cleaner does the work while you are out, and your home heating can be controlled via an app on your smartphone. Danfoss is ready – so are the customers. Danfoss has already entered the arena of wireless technology and cloud-
based products.

With the product Danfoss Link™ App, for example, users can use their smartphone to regulate the temperature at home and set the temperatures of their Danfoss hydronic floor heating, their radiators and their ventilation. Studies have shown that homeowners can reduce their heating bill by 30% with Danfoss electronic thermostats.

In Monheim, Germany, Bettina and Thomas Erkeling have done just that. During the ten years they have lived in their 40-year-old house, they have insulated the roof, replaced the windows and installed district heating. And last year, they had the Danfoss Link™ App system installed in their house to control the thermostats – with significantly reduced heating costs as a result. Thomas and Bettina Erkeling appreciate their heating system even more now, especially during weekends away or when on vacation. “The ability to control our heating system from everywhere is a great relief for us – I can set the heating temperature and schedule for each room, wherever I am,” says Thomas Erkeling.
